EKY students may see a familiar face on Survivor 46

Weekday broadcast of WYMT Mountain News First at Four

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – 18 castaways recently embarked on a journey in Fiji to see who could outwit, outplay and outlast, and one has ties to the mountains.

Survivor contestant Tim Spicer is a Virginia native and an Atlanta resident, but he travels to Eastern Kentucky frequently.

Spicer works for an organization called PeerForward and has spent time in the region with students in various schools.

In an exclusive interview with WYMT, Spicer said this journey on Survivor 46 is about more than himself.

“I want my students and every student that I have ever mentored over the last decade to know that they are valuable. They should take a risk on themselves and put their best foot forward,” Spicer said.

During his conversation with us, he said he is feeling all of the emotions leading up to the two-hour season premiere on Wednesday.

“It’s nerves. It’s excitement,” he said. “You’re reliving some of these moments and you do not know what could be shared or captured.”

Spicer added this season is one folks in the mountains will not want to miss.

“You don’t know what to expect. You don’t what to expect when you watch this. When you see the cast, when you see the tribes, when you see the challenges,” he said. “It is going to be the best of the era.”

Survivor 46 airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. on WYMT.
