Uruguay beat Italy with a fatal goal to win the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, which was held in Argentina.
A goalless tie remained between the two teams for 85 minutes, then Luciano Rodriguez succeeded in snatching the winning goal for “Celeste” 4 minutes before the end, to give his country its first title in the competition.

Argentina tops the list of the most crowned teams with 6 titles, followed by Brazil with 5 titles.
Uruguay revived its glories in the World Cup, as its last victory in the World Cup for adults dates back to 1950 in Brazil, and its youth now represent a glimmer of hope after the decline in the strength of a generation that included Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan.
The defeat deepened the wounds of Italian football, after losing 3 of its teams in the European club competitions finals this season.
- Inter Milan narrowly lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday.
- Roma were defeated in the Europa League final by Sevilla on penalties.
- Fiorentina lost 2-1 to West Ham United in the UEFA Conference League Final.
