VfB Women I: Clarified after the break
In the away game at FC Freiburg-St. Georgen, the VfB Women’s Team I got off to a good start. After just five minutes, captain Jana Beuschlein scored with a header from a corner to take the lead (5′). Although the ever-improving hosts managed to equalize minutes before the break through Fenja Söth (41′), VfB head coach Heiko Gerber’s team had the right answer ready before the half-time whistle and went ahead thanks to Jana Spengler’s goal Jana Beuschleins only had to push in the passer to take the lead again (45′). However, VfB head coach Heiko Gerber was not completely satisfied with the first half: “It was the tough game we expected. After the first 45 minutes a 1-1 would have been okay because we weren’t really in the game. Freiburg was very grippy and snappy.”
A few minutes after the restart, Anna Fliege increased the score to 3:1 (51′) with an unsustainable hit under the crossbar. Jana Beuschlein with a penalty kick (65′) and Jana Spengler (75′) each scored a brace and made the final score 5-1, which meant the eighth win in the eighth game of the season. “We gave a clear answer in the second half and in the end, in my opinion, we deserved to win,” said VfB head coach Heiko Gerber. U17 player Lavinia Haas celebrated her league debut on Sunday, replacing VfB captain Jana Beuschlein in the 78th minute of the game. In the B-Junior Women’s Oberliga, the VfB talent is currently leading the top scorers list with 19 goals.
Next Sunday, November 12th, the VfB women will host FV Niefern in Obertürkheim from 3 p.m., who are currently in ninth place in the table with four points and one win from eight games. On the following two weekends there will be duels with the pursuers FSV Waldebene Stuttgart Ost (November 19th, 2 p.m.) and SC Sand II (November 26th, 4 p.m.).
Among the highlights on VfB-TV:
VfB Women II: First points division of the season
After seven wins at the start of the state league season, Team II dropped points for the first time on Sunday and drew 1-1 (0-1) away from SV Hoffeld. VfB got into the game well against a very deep SV Hoffeld, but was unable to convert the few opportunities that presented themselves into anything worth counting. A Sunday shot from Lea Nagel finally gave the hosts a 1-0 lead (39′) and also meant the halftime score. The strong goalkeeper Theresa Bek kept SV Hoffeld at zero for a long time in the second half before VfB Women’s Team II broke the spell in the final phase. Jana Linke extended a long ball to Farah Jusufovic, who scored the deserved equalizer (75′). In the end, the division of points is okay given SV Hoffeld’s fighting performance.
Team II now has the top game against league leaders 1. FC Donzdorf next Sunday, November 12th. Donzdorf is currently in first place in the state league, two points ahead of VfB II. The game in Obertürkheim kicks off at 12 p.m.
VfB Women’s U17: Thanks to merciless exploitation of opportunities, the biggest win of the season
The VfB women’s U17 team met TSV Münchingen away on Sunday and didn’t give the team, which had now slipped to last place in the table, the slightest chance. From VfB’s point of view, the game ended 18-0, and after the first 40 minutes it was 12-0. In the second half, the team of coaches Patrik Recknagel and Dragana Rabrenovic slowed down a gear, but still scored six more goals and celebrated an overwhelming success, with Lavinia Haas scoring six times (2′, 36′, 60′, 66′, 75′ , 77′) and Milla Baumert scored five times (10′, 13′, 23′, 28′, 38′). The other goals were scored by Anna Osburg (4′, 33′), Sophie Lindner (20′, 42′), Maja Delisimunovic (26′), Rafaila Betiki (40′) and Senna Nur Eraslan (72′).
On Saturday, November 11th, the VfB Women’s U17 will face SV Hegnach at home from 2 p.m., who are second to last in the table with four points after nine games. VfB is third in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg, but has played one game less than second-placed SC Freiburg II.
