The European Football Association (UEFA) is awaiting the match referee’s report before deciding whether to punish Jose Mourinho, the Italian coach of Roma, for yelling at the referee after his team lost to Spain’s Seville on penalty kicks in the European League final on Wednesday night in Budapest.
Mourinho criticized referee Anthony Taylor during the press conference after his team lost in the continental final.
In a video recording that was later circulated on social media platforms, Mourinho appeared waving at Taylor and the refereeing staff, while hearing him utter the word “shame”.
Mourinho received a warning from the referee during the match, which ended in normal and extra time with a draw with a goal for one, before Sevilla decided to win the penalty shootout 4/1 to crown the seventh continental title.
The atmosphere flared up inside and outside the stadium, as 13 players received warnings, including seven from Roma, and the match was disrupted a lot, as the referee counted 25 minutes of stoppage time.
