Tanzania qualified for the African Cup of Nations after a 0-0 draw with its host, Algeria, on Thursday, while Tunisia won 3-0 over Botswana.
Algeria had secured qualification from Group F, while Tanzania needed one point to ensure access to the finals to be hosted by Ivory Coast early next year.
Algeria has 16 points at the top of the group, while Tanzania comes in second place with 8 points, one point ahead of Uganda, which beat Niger at the bottom of the standings with two clean goals.
Djamel Belmadi, the Algerian coach, had decided not to involve several key players and keep them for the friendly match against Senegal next Tuesday.
In the tenth group, Tunisia won 3-0 over Botswana, thanks to Youssef Msakni’s brace.
Tunisia had already qualified for the finals and raised its tally to 13 points, equal to Equatorial Guinea, which drew 1-1 with Libya on Wednesday.
