Saudi Arabia and France have a historical friendship, which was further strengthened by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman through mutual visits between the leaderships of the two countries, which resulted in relations that were established in various political, economic and cultural fields.
In 2018, the Saudi Crown Prince visited France, which witnessed the signing of 19 agreement protocols between French and Saudi companies. In December 2021, Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the French President, and during Macron’s visit, the two sides stressed the importance of enhancing joint action.
The visit of the Saudi crown prince to France is the second in less than a year, as France considers Saudi Arabia a close ally that plays a major role in maintaining regional peace and security.
And between Saudi Arabia and France, relations of friendship deep in history, since before unification, France had a consulate in the Kingdom, and the relations between the two countries are not limited to a field or direction, as they transcend the fields of politics, economy, culture and defense.
The visits of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have strengthened and strengthened relations further, and in this context, his visit to France in 2018 came to involve France in the programs and projects carried by the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and in the areas of existing investment partnership and diversification of the economic base.
On the sidelines of the 2018 visit, 19 protocols of agreement were signed between French and Saudi companies with a total value of more than $18 billion, including industrial sectors such as petrochemicals, water treatment, tourism and culture, health and agriculture.
In December of 2021, Prince Mohammed bin Salman received French President Emmanuel Macron, an appointment that was an opportunity to hold an official session of talks to strengthen relations.
On the sidelines of the visit, the two countries signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding in the fields of culture, tourism, digital technology, space and industry.
In 2022, Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited France, during which he discussed, last July, with the French President, various economic and political files, the most important of which are the stability of global energy markets, support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, the importance of reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria, and international efforts to prevent Iran from possessing Nuclear weapon.
France considers the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a close ally that plays a major role in maintaining regional peace and security and stability in the region, and when regional and international challenges mount, Riyadh has a pivotal place for Paris.
