Coach Thomas Tuchel has after FC Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win in the Champions League against Galatasaray Istanbul reacted with surprise and irritation to a question from a journalist during the press conference after the game.
With their fourth win in the fourth group game, FCB secured first place and the associated progression to the round of 16.
“How do you see the development in the Champions League? Maybe not quite as brilliant as in the Bundesliga? Is that because the opponents are harder? How do you determine that? There are twelve points,…” the journalist explained , before Tuchel verbally intervened: “Now I’m excited! Now I’m excited! But?”
The journalist then added: “There were more brilliant performances in the Bundesliga.”
Tuchel then asked counter questions: “The next person in the group has how many points? Four? Five?”

The FCB coach later returned to the topic: “I don’t know whether the expectations are sometimes too high! When I go to Copenhagen with my team, we don’t expect to shine there. Or we call it ‘ “shine” as something else. If you go along with it and are not above doing the dirty work, then “shine” might look like hard work. But in the end the result shines,” he said.
FC Bayern won both games in the Champions League against Galatasaray (3:1, 2:1), the home game against Manchester United (4:3) and also away at FC Copenhagen (2:1).
