His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, stressed that the UAE’s participation in the G20 meetings reflects its firm commitment to multilateral cooperation and achieving international priorities in all sectors. In statements he made coinciding with the launch of the G20 summit in India, His Excellency said that the UAE and India are linked by strong bilateral relations with historical roots. The signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries in 2017 and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2022 came within the framework of the two countries’ keenness to support relations and move them to broader horizons.
He praised the support and follow-up enjoyed by relations between the UAE and the Republic of India from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, describing multilateral cooperation as an essential part of the vision and strategy of the two countries to advance relations. In this regard, he pointed to the cooperation of the two countries within the Association of States bordering the Indian Ocean (IORA) and within the framework of the “I2U2” group and the BRICS group, which the UAE recently joined.

Al Sayegh explained that with the support of India and the founding countries, the invitation of the UAE by India to the G20 came within the framework of the prominent Emirati presence and role at all levels, and the close strategic relations between the two friendly countries.
Regarding the importance of the country’s participation in the summit, he stressed that the UAE is participating as a guest country for the second year in a row in the group’s meetings and summits, after its successful participation in the Indonesia Summit last year, and for the third time since 2020, explaining that the UAE is committed as a guest country to working with its international partners within the framework of The G20 works to promote economic growth and equitable development around the world.
He said that the UAE supports the agenda and strategy of the Republic of India during its hosting of the G20 summit, noting that the country participated in about 25 meetings held throughout the year, including the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting held in New Delhi, headed by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, while The relevant ministers participated in the various tracks, in addition to the country’s attendance at all CHIBARPA meetings and working groups, and stressed the UAE’s commitment to contribute effectively to the G20 files under India’s presidency.
He explained that the G20 summit, which was held for the first time in 1999, is an annual gathering of representatives of the most important economic powers in the world and works to enhance international cooperation.
