The UAE government has launched the second round of batches to accelerate the design of transformational projects, aimed at supporting efforts to achieve transformational goals that constitute short-term goals by developing integrated visions for the future and building on societal aspirations and national achievements in order to keep pace with the next stage with all its variables, challenges and speed of development to achieve the goals of the next stage of the development process that the country is witnessing in various fields.

More than 400 officials, experts and leaders of transformational projects from 34 federal government agencies, during their participation in the second round of batches to accelerate the design of transformational projects, discussed 150 transformational targets that were selected and designed to ensure strengthening and intensification of efforts to translate leadership directives for the next stage. .

For her part, Huda Al Hashemi, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategy Affairs, confirmed that the UAE government adopts the strengthening of government cooperation and integration, and motivates teams to design major projects within one work team that achieves great qualitative leaps and results that touch the life of society, and supports the competitiveness and leadership of the country in various vital sectors in order to achieve the goals of the vision «We are the Emirates 2031».

Huda Al-Hashemi said: The series of batches to accelerate the design of transformational projects represents a possible incubator for the efforts of government work teams to achieve transformational goals through participatory work and develop flexible plans within key areas related to national priorities, including achieving sustainability and employing generative artificial intelligence in sustainable development.

The first batch focused on designing transformational projects to achieve 62 transformational goals, by dividing the teams into the main axes according to the vision of “We Are the Emirates 2031”, and discussed key topics that included: security and safety, security of ports, justice, and societal integration to achieve the rule of law, in addition to the development of the public benefit sector, housing stability, and the judicial system in the axis of the possible system.

The teams also worked on developing a new concept for transformational projects aimed at achieving transformational goals within health indicators, the most important of which are health protection, medical readiness and services, medical technology, and education indicators.

Undersecretaries of ministries and a group of government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, the Emirates Space Agency, the Securities and Commodities Authority, the Federal Tax Authority, the Emirates Central Bank, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Communications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, and the Cybersecurity Council participated in the batch of economy and global standing.

The second batch worked on designing transformational projects and developing initial visions to achieve 81 transformational targets, by dividing the teams within the sub-axes set by the vision of “We Are the Emirates 2031”, the most important of which is the forward-looking government index, as it focuses on government and financial services issues, and human resources, while specialized projects will be designed to enhance indicators of cybersecurity and resource security.

The active economy index received the greatest focus in the second batch, as the teams worked on designing projects to promote exports and trade, investment and tourism, financial markets, companies, the creative and digital economy, space, industry, research and development, and focused on enhancing the indicators of global standing and international cooperation, sustainability and climate change, tolerance and soft power.

In the interconnected infrastructure index, the participating teams worked on designing projects specialized in mobility, digital infrastructure, and specific projects to enhance human capital and localization initiatives, in addition to designing transformational projects that develop infrastructure to achieve goals within the axis of economy and global standing.

Transformational projects dialogue
The batches for accelerating the design of transformational projects witnessed the organization of an interactive dialogue session entitled: “Dialogue of Best Practices for Transformational Projects 2022” in its first session, in which a number of government officials and leaders of transformational projects participated.

Dr. Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention for the Health Regulation Sector, and Eng. Hessa Al Malik, Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for Maritime Transport Affairs, also spoke during the session moderated by Abdullah Al Jarwan, Leader of the Transformational Acceleration Team at the Government Accelerators Center in the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs. The participating entities reviewed a number of distinguished transformational projects launched by the UAE government within the first session.

Future projects
The batches aimed to develop new ideas, to ensure the design of future projects for the transformational goal, in order to ensure positive change, based on the outputs of the leadership workshop for the national transformational goals organized by the UAE government with the participation of ministers and government officials from more than 36 federal entities, so that it will be implemented during the next three years to achieve the strategic goals.

The acceleration batches focused on organizing interactive activities to visualize the future and aspirations to achieve transformational goals and short and long-term success, activities to generate innovative ideas and transform them into transformational projects and determine the expected impact of these projects on society and the state, in a way that ensures inspiring teams to design innovative and ambitious transformational projects based on international best practices and models for successful transformational projects.

It is worth noting that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, announced in September 2021 a new methodology for government work, aimed at accelerating achievements and setting priorities, as the government works with the new methodology, and focuses on priorities within the 50 principles.
