Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, who is visiting the capital, Addis Ababa, heading the visiting delegation of the League, as the first Islamic delegation to be hosted by the capital of the African Union, Addis Ababa.
The Prime Minister welcomed the visiting delegation, while discussing efforts to enhance religious and intellectual awareness and community awareness in general in confronting extremist ideas, regardless of their source around the world, with an emphasis on the important role of religious leaders of various religions in this regard.
The President of the Republic, Mrs. Sahle-Work Zoudi, received the Secretary-General of the League, welcoming the delegation of the League on this visit, which she described as a mission, praising the efforts of the League and its appreciation for its global missions, especially the contributions that enhance peace and harmony in societies of national diversity, as well as the provision of humanitarian services.
She noted the importance of peaceful coexistence in countries of religious, ethnic and cultural pluralism around the world, as well as between all components within the same society, the fruits of which humanity reaps as a whole in its peace and prosperity.
and praised the Islamic community in Ethiopia; Considering it one of the distinguished and interactive societies; Appreciating their efforts in serving society and the state, and their effective contribution to development, enlightenment and development.
The two meetings were attended by His Eminence, the President of the Supreme Islamic Council and the President of the Council of Followers of Religions in Ethiopia, Sheikh Haji Ibrahim, and a number of government officials.
