The number of people fleeing the fighting in Sudan has risen to nearly 1.9 million, most of them from the capital, Khartoum.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated, in an update yesterday, that nearly 1.9 million people fled to safer locations inside and outside Sudan, noting that more than 1.4 million people were internally displaced, while the rest took refuge in Egypt. Chad, Central Africa, Ethiopia and South Sudan.

The office stated that 66% of the total number of displaced persons and refugees fled from the capital Khartoum, followed by the state of West Darfur with a rate of 19%, while the rest are from the states of South, Central and North Darfur and North Kordofan.
