The Egyptian team for mental disabilities concluded its participation in the World Games in France today, after strong competitions with 95 countries from around the world.
The players of the Egyptian national team for mental disabilities performed impressively and were able to achieve 27 medals in the World Games, which concluded today and which France hosted for a week during the period from 4 to 10 June, with the participation of 1,500 male and female players.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, had communicated with the mission and followed up on a daily basis the results of the tournament. Sobhi praised the performance of the Egyptian team for mental disabilities and for achieving this number of medals, which amounted to “27” various medals, in the first participation of an Arab and African team in that tournament.
The Egyptian team players with mental disabilities were able to achieve 27 various medals in the championship competitions, with 11 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals, in the sports of “athletics, swimming, table tennis, equestrian, and karate.”
The mission is chaired by Mahmoud Al-Sheikh, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Intellectual Disabilities, while Amani Durgham is present as the vice-chairman of the mission, while Amal Mobdi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Federation, attends her international capacity as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Intellectual Disabilities, and Dr. Sonia Abdel Wahab, Head of the Central Administration for Sports Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Mr. Marwan Atef, representative of the National Bank of Egypt, sponsor of the Egyptian national team for mental disabilities in the tournament.
