Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentina national team that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, said that he is not interested in the next destination of captain Lionel Messi, as long as he feels comfortable and happy.
Messi’s future in Paris Saint-Germain has sparked much speculation in recent days after the French club stopped him for traveling to Saudi Arabia and his absence from training.
But Messi’s father came out to deny that any agreement had been reached with any team and that the final decision would be after the end of the current season.
“Let (Messi) go to the place where he will feel comfortable with his colleagues and the club’s fans,” Scaloni said in his interview with the Qatari Al-Kass channel on Tuesday. It does not affect us as a team, he is happy when he joins us, and we need him to be happy.”
Scaloni praised the Moroccan national team and its coach, Walid Rekragui, after reaching the semi-finals in the World Cup before losing to France.
“In addition to the Saudi national team, Morocco was the discovery of the World Cup, a fighting team,” Scaloni added. Walid surprised everyone and I congratulated him on the amazing work he did in a short period and his success in convincing his players of the possibility of beating other teams.”
Rekragui took over his country’s national team training at the end of August, after the departure of Bosnian Vahid Halilhodzic.
