Al-Jazeera correspondent in Sudan, Badawi, reported successive explosions south of the city of Omdurman this morning, while a source in the Sudanese army announced to Al-Jazeera that the army had responded to an attack by the Rapid Support Forces on the General Command headquarters in the center of the capital, Khartoum, last night.

The military source indicated that the army forces were able to repel the attack and destroy more than 10 combat vehicles after a clash that lasted for more than an hour.

In another development, the Rapid Support Forces said that they had confronted a military convoy belonging to what it described as coup plotters in the state of South Darfur, near the Kass area, on its way to the city of Nyala, and it suffered heavy losses in lives and military equipment.

The Rapid Support Forces added in a statement that dozens of soldiers surrendered to the Rapid Support Forces, and a large amount of equipment and vehicles were seized.
