Poland’s Iga Schwyntek, ranked number one in the world, was crowned Roland Garros, the second of the four Grand Slam tournaments in the tennis season, for the second time in a row.
This came after the 22-year-old Polish player defeated Czech Karolina Mokova, ranked No. 43 in the world, at the age of 26, with two sets against one, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the final round match that was held today, Saturday. It took two hours and 46 minutes.
Chivontec reached the final of this year’s tournament without losing any group in the previous round matches, but lost for the first time today in the second group of the final round match, forcing it to play a third set and a decider.
It is noteworthy that the Polish player won the Roland Garros title for the second time in a row, and the third in her career, as she crowned Roland Garros in 2020 and 2022, and for the fourth time in the four Grand Slam tournaments, as she crowned the US Open, the fourth major tournament, in 2022.
Czech Karolina Mokova played the final match today for the first time in her career in major tournaments.
