Nikola Jokic Gets Honest on Nuggets’ Recent Struggles

The Denver Nuggets are still the team to beat in the Western Conference, but there’s no doubting that they’ve been struggling as of late. The team has lost three out of their last five games, but Nikola Jokic believes the Nuggets aren’t a flip-the-switch team.

After the Denver Nuggets suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard on Thursday night, Nikola Jokic gave his honest thoughts on the team’s recent struggles. Jokic believes the Nuggets played well against the Clippers, but just suffered some bad momentum.

“I think that that doesn’t really exist, that switch that you can turn. I think you need to build it.,” Jokic said. “Yes, last year we lost a couple games at the end, but I think that was just basically a slump. I think we still played good, it was just bad momentum. Same as the game, you have good runs and bad runs. I think in the season you have good runs and bad runs too.”

Last season, the Denver Nuggets were essentially locked into the first seed in the month of April. This isn’t the case this season, but Denver has been playing without Jamal Murray. Even though the Nuggets have lost three out of their last five games, it’s been against the Clippers, Timberwolves, and Suns. It’s clear Denver has a higher gear they can play it, and they’ll do it when Jamal Murray returns.
