The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority managed to thwart two attempts to smuggle 466,326 Captagon pills, after they were found hidden in trucks that came to the Kingdom through the Haditha port.
The authority stated that, in the first attempt, it managed to thwart the smuggling of 365,166 Captagon pills, which were found hidden in one of the trucks coming through the port, as the seized items were hidden in caches prepared for the purpose of smuggling inside separate parts of the truck, and added that it was able, at the same port, to thwart another attempt. To smuggle 101,160 Captagon pills, it was hidden inside the floor of the bed of one of the trucks coming through the port.
The authority stated that after completing the seizure operations, coordination took place with the General Directorate for Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seizures inside the Kingdom, as they were arrested as two persons.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority stressed that it is continuing to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports, and stands guard against attempts by smugglers, in order to achieve the most prominent pillars of its strategy represented in enhancing the security and protection of society by limiting attempts to smuggle such pests and other contraband.
