Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, stressed the great interest that the political leadership attaches to youth, especially university youth, citing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s speech during the day celebrating the excellence of Egypt’s universities at Suez Canal University about the importance of education as “the true foundation from which the state will launch its distant dream.”
This came in a speech by the Minister of Youth and Sports, which he delivered via video conference technology, during the conclusion of the activities of the third sports festival for student families in Egyptian universities, for the university academic year (2023-2024), which is organized by the Ministry through the (Central Administration for Sports Development – General Administration for Student Sports Activities). ) In cooperation with Kafrelsheikh University, under the slogan “Youth of the Universities of the New Republic”, during the period from 1 to 5 of this October, at Kafrelsheikh University.
“Sobhi” pointed out that the Egyptian state spares no effort in providing all aspects of support and care for university students at all levels, directing thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for the fruitful cooperation between the two ministries, and also thanked Kafr El-Sheikh University for all efforts. The efforts made to make this festival a success, stressing the interconnection and cohesion between the Ministries of Youth, Sports and Higher Education through the implementation of many sports and youth activities and events within universities.
The festival aims to strengthen cooperation between students of different universities, raise physical efficiency, and increase the practice of sports activity, to graduate young people capable of assuming responsibility.
400 male and female students representing 18 public and private Egyptian universities (South Valley, Al-Azhar, Suez Canal, Suez, New Mansoura, Arish, Luxor, Sohag, Assiut, Beni Suef, Higher Education, Menoufia, Tanta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Banha) participate in the festival. Fayoum, Port Said, Zagazig.
The festival includes activities and competitions in games (table tennis for boys – girls – five-a-side football for boys – darts – three-way basketball for boys – girls), in addition to recreational activities and games for general practice for all students, with prizes being offered. Shields and certificates of appreciation for winners and participants.
This comes within the framework of the national fitness project and in light of the interest and keenness of the political leadership and the role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to pay attention to youth and create a generation capable of development.
The closing ceremony was attended by Major General Gamal Nour El-Din, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, Dr. Abdel-Razek Desouki, President of Kafr El-Sheikh University, Dr. Sonia Abdel-Wahab, Undersecretary and Head of the Central Administration for Sports Development, Amr El-Bashbishi, Deputy Governor, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Al, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Rushdi. Al-Adawi, Advisor to the University President for Activities, Dr. Ali Sabry, Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Ahmed Hassan, Director-General of the General Administration of Student Sports Activities at the Ministry, and a group of deans of colleges at the university and faculty members at the university.
