Today, Wednesday, the Arab Gulf Cup Football Association announced that the General Assembly, held in the Qatari capital, approved Kuwait’s hosting of the “Gulf 26” in December 2024.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani (President of the Qatar Football Association) – who today retained the presidency of the Arab Gulf Cup Federation by acclamation – said that the regional federation, which includes 8 countries, “decided to hold the Gulf championship that began in 1970 in December 2024 in Kuwait.”
He added, “A month was given to the Gulf federations to apply to be an alternative to Kuwait in the event that it is not possible to establish them there.”
The Arab Gulf Cup Federation had previously said that choosing the date for this tournament was to avoid conflicts with the Asian Cup.
Qatar won the right to host the next edition of the Asian Cup after China apologized for reasons related to combating the Corona virus.
Doha will host this continental cup between January 12 and February 10, 2024.
As for Kuwait, whose national team leads the list of Gulf Cup winners with 10 titles, its stadiums will host this tournament for the fifth time.
