Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez last year from Benfica for 100 million euros.
But Nunez failed to provide the required level so far with Liverpool, and the Uruguayan international remained the subject of criticism.
And Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp indicated that Nunez only needed time in order to succeed with the Reds.
“Give him time to settle down,” Klopp said in remarks reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. “It is very difficult to join a team like Liverpool.”
“Darwin would have scored more than 20 goals if we were going through a regular season,” Klopp said of Nunez. “He needs time to adapt. He had that at Benfica. There was no problem with language.”
