Jurgen Klopp praised the work of Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbe, after watching his team, Liverpool, draw with him with two goals for each team at the Amex Stadium, today, Sunday, in the eighth round of the English Premier League competition.
Liverpool coach Klopp said: “I have to say that I cannot respect what he does more. I am a true supporter of him. I am a fan of football and if someone comes to tell him his influence on football, that should not be underestimated.”
He added: “The moment he got angry, I took advantage of my age and tried to calm him down. I had no idea what they (De Zerbe and the fourth official) were talking about, I just saw them. If you are in a moment like this, the moment of no return will appear and I think he was close to that. “I tried to calm him down.”
Klopp continued: “I’m not sure if he needed it or not. He told me something about a penalty kick, but I had no idea what he was talking about. I think he wanted a penalty kick.”
The coach added that he believed the result was fair after both teams wasted chances to win the match. Klopp said: “I think unfortunately yes (the result was fair). 2-1 is a good result at the end of the first half here. They are a really good team and it is difficult to defend against them.” .
