Manchester City advanced by one point at the top of the English Premier League on Sunday after its exciting 4-4 draw with Chelsea, with Erling Haaland scoring two goals, while former City player Cole Palmer was able to equalize for the hosts from a penalty kick in stoppage time.
Despite the draw, City, the defending champion for the last three seasons, remained at the top with 28 points, one point ahead of its closest rivals, Liverpool (second) and Arsenal (third).
On the other hand, Chelsea’s score, which is suffering from shaky results this season, rose to 16 points in tenth place.
City scored the first goal when Spanish defender Marc Cucurría pulled Haaland’s shirt, so the video assistant referee was used, which awarded a penalty kick that the Norwegian player calmly executed in the 24th minute.

Former City striker Raheem Sterling scored a goal after Yusko Gvardiol stumbled in defense, allowing Reece James to send a cross from which Sterling scored in the 37th minute.

But Chelsea’s lead lasted less than 10 minutes before defender Manuel Akanji rose high to score an equalizer for City in stoppage time of the first half.

Haaland scored his second goal one minute after the start of the second half, increasing his score as the Premier League’s top scorer with 13 goals, three goals ahead of his closest rivals. But in the 67th minute of an exciting second half, the hosts equalized through Nicholas Jackson.
