In the video: FIFA opens voting to choose the best goal in 2023

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the start of the voting process to choose the best goal in 2023 in the men’s and women’s categories.

The award bears the name of the legendary Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskas, who was distinguished by his immortal goals, and it celebrates the most beautiful goals scored between December 19, 2022 and August 20, 2023.

FIFA said on its official website – today, Friday – that 11 male and female players will compete for the award, and it also revealed the shortlist of candidates.

The list of goals nominated for the Puskas Award is as follows:

  • Argentine Alvaro Barreal’s goal in the US Open Cup quarter-final match.
  • Colombian national team player Linda Caicedo’s goal against Germany during the Women’s World Cup.
  • Left winger Julio Anciso’s goal for Brighton against Manchester City in the English Premier League.
  • Sam Kerr, Australian national team player, scored her goal against England in the Women’s World Cup.
  • Brian Lozano’s goal for Atlas Guadalajara against CF America in the Mexican League.
  • Goal by Guillerme Madruga, Botafogo FCSB player, against Novozontino, in the Brazilian Second Division.
  • Ivan Morante’s goal for Ibiza against Burgos in the Spanish Second Division.
  • Nuno Santos’ goal for Sporting Lisbon against Boavista in the Portuguese League.
  • Seung-Jin Kang’s goal, the Korean U-20 national team player, against Jordan in the Asian Youth Championship.
  • Kazakhstan’s Ashot Tagebergen’s goal against Denmark in the European Nations Cup qualifiers.
  • Beatrice Zanerato’s goal from Brazil against Panama in the Women’s World Cup.

Voting to choose the best goal began today and will continue until the tenth of next October, with the winner being chosen by a committee of FIFA legends, in addition to the votes of registered fans on the FIFA website.
