Pep Guardiola (English coach of Manchester City) admitted that his team is “in crisis” after Portuguese Bernardo Silva joined the injured list.
Silva came off at the end of the first half during the 3-1 win over Serbian Red Star Belgrade, opening the defending champions’ Champions League campaign on Tuesday.
City are missing due to injury: Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic.
Guardiola added, “I have not spoken to the doctors yet, but it seems that he will not be available in the upcoming matches.”
He continued, “We are in a crisis and I will not say: Oh my God, we have injuries.” But dealing with 5 important players is difficult.”
Silva contract
International media revealed that the Portuguese international’s contract with the “Citizens” includes a clause that allows him to leave in the summer of 2024 for about 62 million dollars, without the club wishing to buy negotiating with “City.”
Silva extended his contract – last month – with the English team until the summer of 2026.
