A group of gunmen kidnapped Mohamed Zaabiya, the striker of the Libyan Al-Ittihad team and the Libyan national team, during the days, and the Tunisian newspaper Al-Shorouk reported that the Libyan player was kidnapped last Thursday while he was in Tripoli and was hidden in an unknown location so far.
34-year-old Muhammad Zaabiyeh is currently undergoing physiotherapy and still relies on crutches to move, after he suffered a severe injury in his left foot, as a result of which he underwent surgery last February.
The player was kidnapped by armed elements, and his family does not yet know the kidnappers’ demands for his release.
According to the newspaper, the family of Muhammad Zaabiya is appealing to officials in Libya to intervene urgently to find the player and free him from the kidnappers.
The player’s family confirmed that they had completely lost contact with him since last Thursday and do not know anything about him yet.
Mohamed Zaabieh played for several Arab teams, most notably the Libyan Union, the Qatari Arab League, Algerian JS Kabylie, Mouloudia Oran, and Tunisian Esperance.
