The Uruguay national football team started its participation in the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, which is currently being held in Argentina, with a 4-0 victory over its Iraqi counterpart on Tuesday morning.

Uruguay topped Group E on goal difference against England, who beat Tunisia 1-0 in the other group match.

With this quartet, Uruguay raised its tally to 100 goals in the history of its participation in the Youth World Cup, becoming the fourth team to reach the 100-goal mark in the tournament after Brazil, Argentina and Spain.

In Group F, South Korea defeated France 2-1 to share the top spot in the group with Gambia, who started their participation in the current World Cup by defeating Honduras 2-1.

The Korean team achieved its first victory over its French counterpart in the history of their confrontations in the Youth World Cup, where they met twice previously, in which the French team won the group stage in both the 1997 and 2011 editions.
