During her last years, Claudia Pirán faced hypercalcemia, a condition in which calcium levels in the blood are above normal. This disease caused multiple fractures in her body.
Hypercalcemia can have serious repercussions on health, weakening bones, forming kidney stones and interfering with the functioning of the heart and brain.
Pirán began her brilliant musical career in August 1997. The following year, in October 1998, she became the winner of the Pre-Cosquín, representing San Juan in the category of Female Folklore Vocal Soloist.
That achievement led her directly to participate in the 1998 Cosquín Festival, where she obtained a Special Mention and won the hearts of the public, both on the Main Stage and in the traditional Peñas that accompany the festival each year.
In her long and successful career, Claudia Pirán was invited to the most important stages of Argentine folklore, such as the National Festival of the Sun, where she shared the stage with artists of the stature of AAlberto Plaza, Peteco Carabajal y Jairo.
Among his first milestones can be counted his first recital at the Juan Victoria Auditorium in San Juan, on November 8, 1998, when he managed to completely fill its 900 seats.

Recognition in Cosquín
Pirán was recognized with the award of Revelation of Street Shows at the 2000 Cosquín Festivaland its outstanding track record was officially recognized as of “Cultural and Provincial Interest” by the Undersecretariat of Culture and Tourism of the Province of San Juan.
Recently, the City of San Juan paid tribute to the career of Claudia Pirán, in an emotional event that featured the participation of other prominent artists in the field.
The artist also left her mark in the city of Buenos Aires, participating in the “Músicas de Provincia” meeting organized by the Buenos Aires municipality and the BAM (Buenos Aires Música) at the San Martín Cultural Center, at the end of June 2000.
At the 2002 Cosquín Festival, Claudia Pirán had a prominent presence during the time when the festival is televised throughout the country – the time most desired by artists – and achieved recognition from national media.
