National player Pascal Groß further aggravated Ajax Amsterdam’s mega-crisis in the Europa League with Brighton & Hove. Liverpool FC made a mistake.
Jürgen Klopp’s team surprisingly suffered their first Europa League defeat of the season at FC Toulouse on what was actually a pleasant day and thus missed out on early group victory.
In France it was 2:3 (0:1). The day was positive for Liverpool because the father of Colombian Luiz Diaz was released after being kidnapped twelve days ago.
The equalizer was revoked in the 101st minute
However, with Diaz in Liverpool’s starting line-up, Toulouse took the lead through Aron Donnum (36′). Thijs Dallinga made it 2-0 (58th). Thanks to an own goal from Toulouse midfielder Cristian Casseres (74th), Liverpool came close again. Frank Magri immediately made it 3-1 for the French (76th).
LFC striker Diogo Jota then reduced the score to 2:3 late on (89′). In stoppage time, the VAR conceded Liverpool’s equalizer again (90th + 11th).
Fati and Adingra score against Ajax
Things went better for the German national player Pascal Groß. He won 2-0 (1-0) with Brighton at crisis-ridden Ajax Amsterdam. Ansu Fati gave coach Antonio De Zerbi’s team the lead (15th). Simon Adingra later increased the score to 2-0 (53′).

Marseille wins in Athens
Olympique Marseille took a big step towards the knockout round with a 2-0 (1-0) win at AEK Athens. The goals for the French were scored by Chancel Mbemba (25th) and Ismaïla Sarr (90th + 3).
FC Villarreal is also doing well after the 2-1 (0-1) win over Maccabi Haifa. The Israelis took the lead through Abdoulaye Seck (30th), but in the final phase Álex Baena (82nd) and ex-Leipzig player Alexander Sørloth (86th) turned the game in favor of the Spaniards.
Freiburg’s group opponents West Ham United, where national player Thilo Kehrer was unused, narrowly but deservedly beat Olympiacos Piraeus 1-0 (0-0). Lucas Paquetá scored the goal of the night in the 73rd minute.
Double pack from Eriksen makes Molde celebrate
Leverkusen’s group opponents Molde FK were also victorious, the 3-1 (2-0) in the Scandinavian duel at BK Häcken prevented the Werkself from winning the group early. Fredrik Gulbrandsen (16th) and Kristian Eriksen (24th) put Molde ahead with two goals, and Eriksen countered the goal from Srđan Hrstić (65th) in the 86th minute with the goal to make the final score.
