BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Temperatures will be taking a dip as we see a cold front move through early Monday morning. Expect a few spotty sprinkles until we get to sunrise Monday as the front brings in drier air on the backside. Temperatures will be much cooler for the start of the work/school week. Make sure the kids have some sleeves for the next couple of morning bus stops.
We see lows in the 50°s Monday, but Tuesday things could get downright cold. The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for parishes and counties along the state line north of Baton Rouge.
This Freeze Watch goes into effect early Tuesday morning until sunrise. Freeze durations will be very minimal 0-2 hours. But we could see some areas of frost.
If you did any planting or landscaping, you may want to consider covering sensitive vegetation. Otherwise just protect people and pets areawide. Ironically Tuesday is the official start to Spring. Winter won’t keep much control over the start of Spring though as the cold is in and out with a warming trend starting Wednesday.
We stay dry through Wednesday. Our next storm system and weak cold front is set to arrive Thursday into Friday. This system won’t have too bad a punch as rain coverage stays scattered in nature Thursday with just a few lingering isolated showers Friday. All rain looks to exit the area just in time for the first weekend of Spring. We’ve got a few more shower and storm chances for the early part of next week.
