Bono is on the list of goalkeepers.. FIFA announces the names of the candidates for the “Best” award

Today, Thursday, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) revealed the lists of nominees for the Best in the World Awards for the year 2023.

FIFA opened nominations for the fans to vote in choosing the winners of the awards for best player, best female player, best men’s coach, best women’s football coach, best goalkeeper, best female goalkeeper, and the fans’ award.

The winner is chosen based on a voting process in which coaches and team leaders participate, along with fans and a selected group of journalists.

The evaluation period includes the period between December 19, 2022 and August 20, 2023, meaning that performance during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was not taken into account.

As for the women’s categories, votes were taken on what the competitors submitted between August 1, 2022 and August 20, 2023, which is the day that witnessed the Women’s World Cup final between Spain and England.

The list of candidates for the Best Player Award included 6 from English Manchester City out of 12 candidates, in addition to the Spanish City coach Pep Guardiola, who is nominated for the Best Coach in the World award. As for women’s football coaches, the list included Emma Hayes and Sarina Wegman.
