Biography of the new Algerian Prime Minister Nadhir Arbawi



Nadhir Arbawi, a former lawyer, Algerian diplomat, and former international player in the Algerian handball team, was appointed during September 2021 as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations in New York. Nadir Al-Arbawi began his career as a lawyer registered in the Algerian Bar Association before joining the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomat.



Al-Arbawi also held several positions, including Ambassador of Algeria to Pakistan, Director General of Legal and Consular Affairs, Director of the Maghreb, Director of International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Representative of Algeria in the General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union headquartered in Rabat, Morocco, and Member of the Board of Directors of the Maghreb Center for Studies and Research. He was recalled in October 2019 from his position as Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative of Algeria to the League of Arab States, and appointed as an Advisor to former Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, before being appointed in September 2021 as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations in New York. Nadhir Al-Arbawi also contributed to publishing several articles in the Algerian and Arab press on regional and international strategic issues.
