Bill Simmons has shared plenty of stories as a sportswriter and podcaster, but apparently “one of my best” remains untold – and involves a connection to the royal family.
in An episode of “The Bills Simmons Podcast” Released on Friday, the titular host revealed he once met with Prince Harry to discuss podcast ideas and expressed frustration with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s media company Archewell and their “Archetypes” podcast not being renewed for a second season – calling them “f-king grifters” in exchange for a deal Nearly $20 million has yielded 12 podcast episodes, according to The Big Lead.
“I wish I had been involved in the ‘Megan and Harry leaving Spotify’ negotiations,” said Simmons, founder of The Ringer and head of global sports strategy at Spotify. “…This is a podcast we should have done with them. I have to drink one night and tell the story of a Zoom I got with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
The Post’s Erin Keller confirmed Thursday that the inaugural season of “Archaetypes” won’t be followed by a second, though Spotify and Archewell Audio said everyone “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we’ve made together.”
They signed the deal back in 2020, and the first episode of “Archaetypes” — described in the introduction as a podcast where “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex dives into signs that try to hold women back” — launched in August 2022 with an episode of Serena Williams.
Eleven more shows followed, including performances with Mariah Carey and Trevor Noah, with the season finale released in November.
Nor was this the first time Simmons had criticized Prince Harry, according to an outrageous ad.
In a January 2023 episode of his podcast, Simmons said “I’m so sick of this guy” and later added that he was “so embarrassed he’s on our platform”.
“I can’t take it,” Simmons said, according to the outlet. “Very tired. I’m so embarrassed that I have to share it on Spotify. The man is bad.”
