Notes from the aircraft training camp today, Sunday.
Catch a fever!
Three early candidates for best catch at camp: Kenny Yeboah’s one-handed touchdown, Jason Brownlee climbs up the back of the cornerback and wrestles a 50/50 ball as they hit the ground, and Garrett Wilson jumps in to quickly hit Aaron Rodgers in the back of the end zone and taps his toes before the momentum sends him out of bounds. Yeboah and Brownlee caught the balls from Zack Wilson.
clings
The ball exploded twice at the same time as a successive whistle with the attack of the second team. Zack Wilson held the ball too long and was “kicked out,” ending up on his butt in traffic. Michael Carter kicked the ball in by Jamien Sherwood on the 5-yard end. Fumbles or dead balls, it’s never a good idea to see the ball on the ground.
Caught my eye
Quinn Williams was in the backfield so fast on one play that, if the tackle had been direct, he would have met Carter just as he took the delivery.
Rodgers Report
Rodgers has never been as sharp as he was on Saturday, completing 7 of 15 passes in 11-on-11s. He connected with Alain Lazard on a deep cross after changing the play with hand signals at the line of scrimmage. Rodgers was 2-for-3 in the red zone period, with the aforementioned touchdown to Jarrett Wilson and one to Tyler Conklin.
Injury report
OT Duane Brown (shoulder) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday and it doesn’t look like he’s going to practice much at camp. “He is still working through the surgeries he had in the off-season,” said Robert Saleh, the national team’s coach. “We are not concerned about his availability for this season. It will be sooner rather than later.”
