A spokesman for the prisoners’ team in the Yemeni government to “Okaz”: The consultations ended positively and the next round is after Eid

The spokesman for the abductees and prisoners team in the Yemeni government, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Majed Fadayel, revealed to “Okaz” that the Houthis agreed to exchange the politician covered by Resolution 2226, Muhammad Qahtan, in the consultations that concluded today in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the auspices of the UN envoy’s office and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“The round of consultations ended, but positively, and the Houthis agreed to exchange Muhammad Qahtan in any upcoming exchange process,” Fadayel said.

He pointed out that the government team is very keen to release all for all in accordance with the directives of the Presidential Leadership Council headed by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi and the Yemeni government, and will not spare any effort that leads to ending the suffering of the families of the abductees and prisoners and the return of all detainees in prisons to their families as soon as possible.

He pointed out that the prisoners’ file is a purely humanitarian file that is important to build on in any upcoming political process, and therefore the two parties were keen to reach positive results.
